Water projects in the valley of Achocalla

While visiting in 2003 it soon became apparent, during our talks with village elders and the director of the school, that there are many health problems in Uypaca due to the lack of clean water of any water at all. This was confirmed by Dr. Freddy Yana Coarite who examined the villagers and discovered many eye and intestinal diseases.

 

Action points

a.       Getting permission from the municipality of Achocalla (Uypaca and Surusaya form part of it ) to get the projects started
b.       The Mayor of Achocalla has given instructions for technical research.
c.       Realisation of the building of a water tower under supervision of an engineer.
d.       Taking measures to ensure a supply of water to the school and one or two central points in the villages.

e. The project in Surusaya has been succesfully concluded in December 2004. Preparions for the second project have started in May 2005 in Anari and the actual building will start in September 2005.
